Family is very vital before the Lord. Thus every family should be united and be one in working their salvation especially in these latter days. We believe that families could be together forever.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or popularly known as the Mormons or in this modern times are called Latter-day Saints (LDS) are searching for their dead ancestors. In line with one of its 3-fold missions, which is to redeem the dead by performing a vicarious works in the temple.
In so doing, this is to follow what the Bible says in the Book of Malachi, "turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers"
Elder Bon Reyes and his wife, the couple missionaries assigned in the family history recently conducted a seminar on family history search with the priesthood leaders and family consultants of the branches or units under the La Carlota Philippines Districts. This is in line with the 2012 Philippines area goals such strengthening the family, establishing the church, savings the rising generation, and rescuing the one.
The seminar tackled the process of registering to the new family search website of the Church, submitting names for temple ordinances, among others.
This blogger, Gil Camporazo, is the high councilor of the District assigned to handle this family search. He will coordinate with the respective counselors of every branch, conduct lecture and seminar with every family consultants, campaign for the submission of names of every dead forebears of every member of the Church for baptism in the temple.
Again, in doing this kind of work, those dead will have the great chance to be saved as vicariously worked on by their living family members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I like the idea of family search website of the church. That is very clever and interesting to be part of the said church activity.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I am not a very religious person, Sir Gil, but knowing your dedication and hard work for your church, I just wanna say that you have my respect.
ReplyDeleteI also believe in offering sacrifices for the dead.
ReplyDeletewow what a great project! Just thinking of saving the new generation through continuous effort is definitely rewarding. Goodluck on your projects sir, kudos to you and all the missionaries! ;)
ReplyDeleteFamily History is the search for one’s personal pedigree or the history of one’s anscestry. In short, we’re searching for our roots. Genealogy is nothing new. I fact the bible shows the genealogy of Jesus Christ, We also have the genealogy of Gat Jose Rizal. I know that there are a lot of genealogists in Bacolod. I’ve been to Bale Herencia and I’ve seen the pedigree chart of the Guanzons. Quit an impressive achievement.
ReplyDeleteSome take it as a hobby. To others, it is a scientific pursuit. But to us Latter-day Saints it takes on a more serious meaning. We believe that it is an integral part of a single great work, the work of salvation. Paul said in Ephesians 1:10, "That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth, even in Him. I believe he was also talking about God's children both living and dead. We believe that familial affection and relationships can be forever, that families are forever.
Very clever project Sir Gil! Hope this will continue and more success in future. :)
ReplyDeleteinteresting. more like tracing back your family tree.
ReplyDeleteHello Sir Gil. I always pass by the Cebu temple but I never got the opportunity to go inside.
ReplyDeleteI hope the project goes well and will be successful. :>
Sir Gil, as I understand your post, the dead who are not saved will have the chance to be saved again through the works of the living predecessors... am I right po ba sir with my understanding?
ReplyDeleteThe dead who haven't taken a chance to be baptized in God's true Church while living would have the opportunity to do so by a temple ordinance done by his family or by proxy.
DeleteIt was truly inspiring to know that the living can redeem the dead by doing vicarious works in the temple sir Gil. Good luck to your wonderful project sir Gil. May your tribe increase.
ReplyDelete..i do offer prayers and other sacrifices for those dead family members..
ReplyDeletebtw, nakita ko yang church ng LDS dito sa Cebu...

DeleteI'm a bit clueless about family search at first but after reading your post, it somehow gave me little idea where I could begin with.
ReplyDeletethe church photo looks like it is built on the location going to the Taoist Temple? or am I wrong?
ReplyDeleteanyway, speaking of family search---all I knew before is that our family is small---if not because of mr. Facebook I will never know that in a certain locality in Leyte there lived a thousand of my relatives---
later on I discovered that some of the members of the band NEXXUZ who popularized the song "I'LL NEVER GO" were my relatives---
Tracing back your roots could be that difficult but knowing it defines your existence.
