Pulupandan is one of the 19 municipalities in the Province of Negros Occidental in Region VI, Western Visayas, Philippines. Pulupandan's name originated from a local dialect, Hiligaynon phrase "Pulo sang Pandan", that is, "isle of pandan".

In an-hour rites, Pulupandan Mayor Miguel C. Peña welcomes the athletic delegations coming from Pontevedra, San Enrique, Valladolid, La Carlota, Bago and including the host, Pulupandan athletes in this year 2014 meet held at the oval of the public plaza.
In a statement, Peña said that sports activities are an important aspect of education in order to produce well-rounded student. He further said that event's purpose is to foster goodwill, friendship, and sportsmanship between the competing students and schools.
Pontevedra Mayor Jose Maria A. Alonso, in a statement too, said that teem building is practised to its fullest and each participant feels being a part of the whole. He continued that the area meet indeed develops the participants to be themselves and also be member of their teams striving for self-identity and recognition.
Likewise in a statement said San Enrique Mario E. Magno, area meet is an opportunity to scout and develop future athletes who will line local talents to international sports activities.

He has wished that this venue not only to develop the spirit of sportsmanship and companionship among student-players, but to bring all components local government units in Area IV and benefactors closer to one another, to share common aspiration for academic, social and sports development of the student.
Mayor Magno wanted to realize this year's Area IV Meet theme: "One Purpose, One Spirit, One Determination in Sports Excellence" (Hoping it is so.)
Mayor Miguel C. Peña of Pulupandan, the host, and Mayor Mario E. Magno of San Enrique were present at the opening rites this morning.
The town tendered a welcome lunch to all the delegation heads and officiating officials of the meet at the newly-renovated coliseum, across the municipal hall.

In raising the delegation banner of La Carlota City, OIC-ASDS Gladys Armylaine D. Sales did it in lieu of SDS Portia M. Mallorca who is in official business. Ma'am Sales was assisted by by Administrative Officer V Ruth V. Famillaran.

The La Carlota City Athletic Delegation was headed by City Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer as honorary head of delegation, SDS Portia M. Mallorca as delegation head and OIC-SDS Gladys Amylaine D. Sales as co-head.
