Kids and adults members of La Carlota first branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had their Christmas party tonight at the Church meetinghouse in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
Most of the indigent family members of the Church were invited and all of them were given gifts donated by generous members of the Church.
Everybody didn't go home empty-handed. Everyone received a gift.
(Last Sunday, the Church had already dispatched several sack-load of used clothes to the Church members who were also affected by typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City through the Bacolod Philippines Mission.)
Member Couples, youths actively participated in the parlor games. And the full-time lady missionaries did their share too in some of the games.
A hearty dinner of arroz a la valenciana, spaghetti, salad, pork barbecue
and a soft drink was served to every participant.
Christmas is not only gift-giving, but the intention of giving gift, that is, love - the very essence of Christmas.

ReplyDeleteMy recent post Bakit nga ba Cinderella?
yes, gift giving is worth doing .I believe that it is better to give than to receive. A simple gift makes a difference in ones life.
ReplyDeleteNow that's having fun! And what better way to enjoy it than with family and friends, right? Further, I especially admired the fact that the group also thought about the victims of typhoon Sendong. :D
ReplyDeleteGift-giving should be anytime during the year. As a group, though, we often do it in September or October.
ReplyDeleteYes, you're correct C5. Actually in our Church, everyday is gift-giving for it takes in many form not only a gift of clothes, toys, foods, but a service to the needy, to the sick, to those less in spirituality.
ReplyDeleteThis is really important. It's more of participating in the lives of other people and showing that you care. If they get something material and tangible then good.
ReplyDeleteBut don't forget that the relationship forged by the giver and the given is more important than that.
As said, it's better to give than to receive, and most especially on holidays or Christmas season.. indeed worth doing! :D
ReplyDeletehappy Holidays!
Your right the most important is the intention of gift giving... me and my family also do this not only in christmas season but in also in regular days, We share our blessings to others who need most. hope everyone can share like this..
ReplyDeleteay ang saya naman sir bakit di kayu kasali sa games
ReplyDeleteGiving without expecting anything in return is an act of a true benefactor. Let's do it all-year round.
ReplyDeleteThis is so nice sir Gil! Gift giving is worth doing because it makes other people happy!
ReplyDelete@ChrisAir di ako kasali lumabas ako nun antay ako sa office ng branch president namin for an interview. di naman natuloy busy siya. pagpasok ko uli sa cultural hall nandon na ang game. nagphototaking na lang ako po.
ReplyDeleteGift giving is really fun, nakakataba ng puso. When I see people happy to receive a gift from me, kahit wala ako, I become happy as well.
ReplyDeleteWow, such a wonderful way to spend the holidays. What you and your family did was truly wonderful.

Christmas from the Hospital from Christia's World
I have always loved the feeling of receiving gifts... much more if I'm the one giving out some trinkets to the persons close to me. As the old cliche goes, it's more blessed to give than to receive.. and I say AMEN to that!(^_^)
ReplyDeleteIndeed, gift-giving is a worthy cause. It's also a good way to give back what we have received in return. This is what every good steward should do. Hats off to your church!
ReplyDeletei love attending Christmas parties. I just missed our church party this year . why? its because i'm not active in church anymore ..
ReplyDeleteGiving something, with our whole heart, especially to the least fortunate should be practiced not just during Christmas season but throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas from RJ's Mama
it really feels great to give rather than to receive...and as u said it Christmas is Love!
ReplyDeleteGiving is something we should always make.. I always believed that giving is better than receiving. We should always give with a cheerful heart.
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious everyone had a great time!
ReplyDeleteIam glad to see this fun-filled activity during Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteThe gift of love. The gift of peace. The gift of happiness. May all these be yours at Christmas.
I'm glad that your church shared with those who have less.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I notice in our culture, we usually give expensive gifts to our rich friends, but give cheaper gifts to the less fortunate - when it should be the other way around.
