Trip to Cebu Philippines LDS Temple

My wife, and our grandson, Toto Bryan were with me when I attended the dedication of Cebu Philippines Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), Lahug Cebu City on June 13, 2010.

Cebu Philippines Temple is the 133rd operating LDS temple around the world. It is built on an 11-acre (4.5 ha) site that it shares with a church meetinghouse, patron house, residences for the temple president and mission president, and a mission office.

LDS Church Prophet, Seer and Revelator, President Thomas S. Monson described: "This is a beautiful temple. It sits as beacon on the hill."

Building a temple is a commandment with a blessing. Throughout history, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples. Temples are literally houses of the Lord. They are holy places of worship where individuals make sacred promises with God.

Regardless of the place or time period, temples are the most sacred place on earth-a place where earth and heaven meet and where we feel close to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

The plans to build a temple in Cebu City were announced by the LDS Church to local church leaders on 18 April 2006. Ground was broken and the site was dedicated on 14 November 2007 by Dallin H. Oaks, a member of the church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Cebu City Temple is open to the public every Thursday. Our friends are invited to have a tour around the temple. Full Time Missionaries are there to help.

If you live within relatively close proximity to a temple, your sacrifice could be setting aside the time in your busy lives to visit the temple regularly.” — President Thomas S. Monson

    1. The budget outlay is more than million dollars so to speak. But this is a part of the mission of the Church, building Lord's temple everywhere in the world.

    1. It is indeed great Blanca. We love in going there and doing some ordinances required us to do, especially the baptism for the dead and receiving our own endowment, and sealing for our family, wife and children for time and eternity.

  5. The church is beautiful and magnificent. Although I am Catholic (because my parents made me), I believe religion(all) is business. No offense, sir, I am just stating a personal belief. I wonder where the funding for some of these amazing churches come from. Do they come from the rich members of the congregation?

    1. I will prove you wrong. Our Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) is a business. Most of the members here in the Philippines are not rich. They're an ordinary people, earning and living within their means.

    1. Because of its structure, its style, it seems it doesn't exist here in Cebu. But it is. I personally came and attended its dedication in ordinary parlance, its inauguration on June 13, 2010.

  12. I love the architecture of most Mormon churches I've seen. They look stately and redolent of heaven (or at least the human concept of heaven). This one looks grander than the ones I see here in Manila. It truly is a beacon when it's illuminated like that.

  13. Amazing photos and they look like the are not in the Philippines actually.

But more than the pictures is the promise of good life that this temple will bring forth to your community and surely this will provide a deeper inspiration for all your young missionaries to continue preaching and spreading the good news.

    God Bless.
