My wife, and our grandson, Toto Bryan were with me when I attended the dedication of Cebu Philippines Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), Lahug Cebu City on June 13, 2010.
Cebu Philippines Temple is the 133rd operating LDS temple around the world. It is built on an 11-acre (4.5 ha) site that it shares with a church meetinghouse, patron house, residences for the temple president and mission president, and a mission office.
LDS Church Prophet, Seer and Revelator, President Thomas S. Monson described: "This is a beautiful temple. It sits as beacon on the hill."
Building a temple is a commandment with a blessing. Throughout history, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples. Temples are literally houses of the Lord. They are holy places of worship where individuals make sacred promises with God.
Regardless of the place or time period, temples are the most sacred place on earth-a place where earth and heaven meet and where we feel close to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
The plans to build a temple in Cebu City were announced by the LDS Church to local church leaders on 18 April 2006. Ground was broken and the site was dedicated on 14 November 2007 by Dallin H. Oaks, a member of the church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Cebu City Temple is open to the public every Thursday. Our friends are invited to have a tour around the temple. Full Time Missionaries are there to help.
“
If you live within relatively close proximity to a temple, your sacrifice could be setting aside the time in your busy lives to visit the temple regularly.”
— President Thomas S. Monson
