La Carlota City is considered now a burgeoning among the component cities in the Negros Occidental. The small city is proud to claim that there are mall and mart are already in place to cater to the needs of the people in terms of foods, household needs, grocery, office and school supplies, shoes and apparel, among others. They are as follows Lopue's Department Store, Amar Emporium, Lucky 99, Lai Hoc, Prince Hypermart, and KJ Fairmart. Fastfoods are Jollibee, Merzci, and Foodman.
For the banking needs of the people and the businessmen, three banking entities are there to serve them like the Philippine National Bank (PNB), Bangko de Oro (BDO), and the 1st Valley Bank.

Awards and Recognition
To name a few, the city received the Green Banner Award during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held last December 1, 2016 at the Pavillon Hotel in Bacolod City, the highest honor given by the Department of Health (DOH) and the National Nutrition Council (NNC) to LGUs with excellent health programs.
Another one is the Child-Friendly Presidential Award Finalist for 2015 which was awarded last September 26, 2016 in MalacaƱan Palace as a National Finalist in the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) - Component City Category.
To humbly acknowledge the past administration of Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer, now the 4th Dist. Congresswoman, the city had garnered the bronze, the silver, and the gold awards as a legacy of excellence to Mayor Luis J. Jalandoni III as a stepping stone in the city's advocacy in the protection and conservation of the environment.
The 664 city officials and employees are negative for drug as the result of drug-testing among themselves. While the 10 out of 14 barangay of the city are considered as drug-free in the latest report of the La Carlota PNP.
