Visiting Nature's Village Resort for the First Time

My fellow school administrators of the Department of Education, Division of La Carlota and I spent two days and two nights in Nature's Village Resort, Hotel and Restaurant at Talisay City, Negros Occidental, PH to attend the Pantawid Pamilya Orientation of the City Action Team conducted by the Social Workers of the Department of Social Worker Development (DSWD).

Most of us were first timers to the said place and we were impressed of the ambiance, the accommodations and everything. No wonder why that NVR got ASEAN Green Hotel Award!

The seminar/workshop

NVR, Garden Paradise

NVR speaks well of nature. It is indeed "a garden paradise located in Talisay City, only 3.5 km from central Bacolod, the capital of Negros Occidental, Philippines. Set against the backdrop of Mt. Marapara, Nature's Village Resort offers unique accommodations where nature-lovers can bask in unspoiled beauty while remaining close to the city!"

ASEAN Green Hotel Award

I've learned that Nature's Village Resort gets ASEAN green hotel award. It was nominated by the Department of Tourism through the Tourism Office of Talisay City, Negros Occidental in the ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Awards 2010 at the Empire Hotel in Brunei Darussalam.

It is the only resort-hotel that made it to the Top 10 among other tourism establishments in Western Visayas. The nomination was made on the basis of the DOT's random inspection on NVR's compliance with the ASEAN Green Hotel Standards.

The Hotel

Facilities Offered
  • Camp Edgar
Named after the resort owner, Camp Edgar is a great place to hold school and company events such as outings, day or overnight camps, leadership & strategic planning seminars, teambuilding and sports festivals. Surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees and various palms, Camp Edgar has spacious grounds where kids can pitch tents or where adults can organize various outdoor activities. It also has small, medium and large huts named after grandsons Tim, Ben, Jake, and Joachim.
  • Village Farm
The Green Pavilion, agri-tourism area, is an ideal place for cultural and fellowship nights, family and school reunions, parties, concerts and other outdoor events! It features an elevated mini-stage made from the roots of a hundred-year old Narra tree. Run through our tire tunnels, cross all the bamboo bridges, and take a power nap at the tree house. See sustainable tourism in action, visit our Organic Farm and Vermiculture Site and learn how to be a friend of the environment!
  • The Village Restaurant
A variety of dishes inspired by native Ilonggo and Negrense cuisine are prepared here. Their specialties are made from the freshest ingredients and local produce. Organic herbs and vegetables are used from the Village Farm.

The Village Restaurant also has meeting rooms for private parties and functions. This is where we held our seminar/workshop in one of the meeting rooms in the second floor.
  • Salvacion Park
The 25-meter resort pool and 3ft-deep Kiddie Pool are located in this area. The Salvacion Park has annual summer swimming clinics. It is also popular or family and corporate outdoor parties and events. Small, medium and large gazebos, a children's playground, a reflection garden, and an open space for outdoor ball games complete the park's special features.

How To Reach NVR

Bacolod City is the entry point to Negros Occidental. By plane, Bacolod is 50 minutes away from Manila and 20 minutes from Cebu. Bacolod is accessible by boat from Manila (17 hours) and from Iloilo (45 minutes to one hour) via fast ferries. By land, Bacolod is approximately six (6) hours away to or from Cebu.

I never regret that I attended the seminar in this impressive and nature-rich resort, hotel and restaurant like Nature's Village Resort in Talisay City, Neg. Occ., PH.
