La Carlota District Council Training: 'Rescue The One'

All auxiliary officers and branch presidents of the 8 units under the La Carlota District of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints showed their genuine interest on rescuing those inactive, less active members of their respective branches.

Sister Mary Ann Chua-Balen of Cebu LDS Resource Center representative trained these leaders in a half-day seminar recently at the meetinghouse of La Carlota District.

Conducting a council meeting where those identified members and how they may be rescued was done in workshop, and dramatized by a pipe-pingpong ball race.

Several groups were created. For their first attempts, all of the groups weren't able to bring the ball to its box-destination at the stage.

They tried and tried unti they learned how to do it. Teamwork, proper coordination, careful execution of the race made the contest to be won.

Applying these principles, they believe that they could also win those inactive, less active members back to Church.

They ended up by identifying them one by one from their respective home branches.

Building a temple is a commandment with a blessing. Throughout history, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples. Temples are literally houses of the Lord. They are holy places of worship where individuals make sacred promises with God.

Regardless of the place or time period, temples are the most sacred place on earth-a place where earth and heaven meet and where we feel close to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

The plans to build a temple in Cebu City were announced by the LDS Church to local church leaders on 18 April 2006. Ground was broken and the site was dedicated on 14 November 2007 by Dallin H. Oaks, a member of the church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Cebu City Temple is open to the public every Thursday. Our friends are invited to have a tour around the temple. Full Time Missionaries are there to help.

If you live within relatively close proximity to a temple, your sacrifice could be setting aside the time in your busy lives to visit the temple regularly.” — President Thomas S. Monson
